Chapter 17:

Against the lich king (2/3)

Rebirth of the mighty overlord

ROOOOOOAR!

The loud roar of a dragon shook the skies for roughly twenty kilometers as the flame dragon and the winged lion exchange blows.

The flame dragon attacked using its mighty claws and whip like tail. While the winged lion confronted the flame dragon from up close attacking its large body using its own claws.

The two mythical beasts continued to exchange blows, as they increased the speed of their flight! Many of the distant clouds were swept away and dispersed for roughly fifty kilometers from the resulting shockwave of each of their attacks!

Even the landscape down below changes drastically as a result of their destructive attack, which was no different than two natural disasters confronting each other.

The flame dragon wasn't the only one the winged lion had to worry about, Louisa stayed from a distance and one-sidedly used wide range attack magic to inflict a devastating amount of damage onto the winged lion's giant body.

ROOOAR!

The winged lion roared fiercely, as a darkish energy was fired from its jaws, the flame dragons launch a breath attack of its own, both attacks met from the front illuminating the sky.

BOOOOOOOOOM!

A devastating explosion shook the skies as both breath attacks connected at a point in the vacant sky! illuminating the sky in a darkish red color. Louisa spread her two angelic wings outwards as her small and delicate body was sent flying from the resulting shockwave!

It wasn't until she reaches a distance of forty meters had she manages to stabilize herself.

However, just as she had regained her field of balance a shadow closed in on her from the front! And from the corner of her vision a giant claw was aimed at her head.

"Tch." Louisa's movements didn't falter with a mighty flap of her angelic wings Louisa skillfully maneuvered her body backwards effectively evading the slash by a mere inch.

"Fire ball!" Once she had successfully avoided the danger Louisa while rotating her body extended her hand outwards towards the head of the winged lion and chanted. Soon, a giant fire ball thirty centimeter in diameter was sent flying towards the winged lion's body. The flame dragon also followed up with a breath attack of its own!

BOOOOOM!

A huge explosion once again took place in the sky, as a fierce wind shook the skies, scattering all the remaining clouds in the distant. The body of the winged lion was completely consumed by the flames of both attacks! Its condition unknown.

"... Just hurry up and die already." Louisa urges, as she watches the mushroom cloud of smoke. She had used up 60% of her magical reserve if this keeps up, she will be left exhausted before dealing with the mastermind of the attack.

With that thought in mind the ring on Louisa's index finger begun to emit a small light as a bottle appeared in her hand, the bottle had a strange red liquid inside it.

Louisa gulp down almost half the content inside the bottle and sighed with a refresh expression. Her magical power was now filling up and her injuries were slowly healing.

'Once I get close, I'll use one hit kill... then settle this annoyance already.' Louisa thought. However, "?!" Suddenly a fierce storm like wind erupted from within the mushroom clouds sending everything flying. "Guh!" Louisa's delicate body was sent flying backwards from the sudden air pressure.

ROOOOOOOAR!

The winged lion roared ferociously, its beast like eyes red with fury! White feathers scattered and fell down from the sky as Louisa stopped the momentum of her body and spread her wings outwards.

The flame dragon didn't hesitate and launched its attack as soon as the winged lion broke free from the flame. Another fierce battle of beast took place in the sky, causing the atmosphere to tremble.

Louisa gently wipes the blood from the corners of her red lips as she watches the flame dragon and the winged lion continued to exchange various attacks in the distant.

"Haah. This thing is more resilient than I thought." Louisa mumbled to herself. A gentle breeze blew and swept the strands of her long golden hair.

Even after taking several high-level magical attacks from her its body was still moving around vigorously, as though it hadn't received much damage. Louisa sighed as she observed the movements of the winged lion closely. 'Is it because it's an undead?' She wondered, undead didn't really require energy to function like living beings, living beings all need energy to continue doing strenuous activities. Meanwhile...

The undead gets all their required energy directly from the caster of the "Necromancy" Magic. Thus, Louisa suspect that whoever cast this spell is transferring the magical energy to the winged lion allowing it to move despite all the damage it had received from all her spells.

However, her thoughts were interrupted when she suddenly heard a familiar voice inside her head.

{Louisa... can you hear me?} Soon a telepathic communication was established between herself and Ethan. "... Yes, I can hear you... is something wrong?" She questioned.

{I felt a strong presence inside that forest, I think it's the lich. I'll go and deal with it} Ethan suggested.

"I see... very well I shall leave it to you, then. I currently have my hands full dealing with a troublesome monster here." Louisa said, sighing.

{I can see that... this entire village is now practically nonexistent.}

"Were you able to evacuate everyone safely?" Louisa questioned, but just then...? The winged lion closed in on her attacking using its jaws, Louisa instinctively spun her spear in a circle before her creating an impenetrable barrier of golden light!

Ethan quickly severed the communication connection between them as he notices Louisa was having a hard time, his figure was instantly enveloping in a white radiance as he charged towards the vast forest. Meanwhile,

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The winged lion continued its desperate onslaught of attacks. However, no matter how much force it puts into its attacks the golden barrier hadn't moved an inch, let alone break! The winged lion charged forward with its jaws opened wide, blackish energy gathered inside its mouth as it fired its breath attack towards the golden shield.

A bright light illuminated the sky for a brief moment as small cracks begun to appear on the golden shield.

"Che, how persistent can this thing be?" Louisa muttered bitterly; she was actually starting to get rather annoyed now.

Without missing a beat, she promptly reinforced her golden barrier quickly sending her magical power inside the golden spear. The winged lion's breath was blocked by the golden barrier, seeing that the lion let out a mighty roar in frustration and tried biting the golden shield. However,

When the jaws of the winged lion made contact with the golden barrier its large body rebounded back from the force. Louisa then pointed the tip of her spear at the body of the winged lion, "Sorrowful arrows!" She chanted, at the same time hundreds of golden arrows materialize in the sky. They all shot outwards at blinding speed! Leaving an arc of golden trail behind them.

ROOOOAR!

The winged lion let out a painful beastly cry as the many golden arrows pierced its body from every direction. Meanwhile, the flame dragon closed in on the winged lion slashing at its body with its claws. The flame dragons' claws easily rip through its body like hot knife cutting through butter, the flesh of the winged lion was mercilessly ripped off as purple blood trickled down its hind legs.

The flames dragon used its claws to keep the movements of the winged lion in place. The fang of the flame dragon also dug into the lion's neck, piercing its flesh, causing its blood to flow out. "Good boy, now... Holy shackles!" Louisa chanted. At the same time five magic formation appeared in the sky as many shackles made purly from holy magic begun to coil around the limbs of the winged lion like snakes catching its prey, keeping it in place.

Soon, Louisa's silhouette became a blur as she accelerated towards the body of the winged lion, and with a mighty thrust of her golden spear a large hole opened up in its body.

ROOOOOAR!

The winged lion roared fiercely as it struggled to break free from the hold of the flame dragon. However, the flame dragon's claws were like two pincers refusing to let go of its body. It also didn't help that the holy shackles were keeping it from moving, while at the same time draining it of its strength.

Louisa's blue eyes looked down onto the body of the winged lion and flash with a cold gleam as she once again stabs forwards with her golden spear.

One stab, two stab, three stab and four. Many holes could be seen on its giant body as its movements became weaker and weaker. The spear in Louisa's hand was no ordinary spear, the attack strike of this spear is multiplied by fifty, if a human were to ever take a serious hit from this spear it was instant death!

It was no wonder she was able to pierce through the tough defense of an evil dragon. "Humph, how about you taste the true power of this spear." Louisa smirk as she held her spear upwards. Soon, the runes carved onto the golden spear begun to emit a bright light, the light was so bright that the entire sky was illuminated in its brilliance!

"Fairwell, one hit kill!" She roared, as she thrust her spear forward! The spear easily pierced through the body of the winged lion; a loud growl of pain escapes its mouth as its giant body exploded into chunks of rotten flesh subsequently after.

Louisa surrounded herself in a barrier of golden light, protecting herself from the rotten chunks of flesh. The flame dragon's body lost its shape as the spell "Flame dragon" Was undone. "Sigh, now then... I hope you at least give me a challenge little lich." Louisa said, as her icy gaze peered deep inside the forest down below.

...

Meanwhile, sitting on a large rock the lich eyes gleamed with a dangerous light as it sensed one of its most powerful undead was destroyed. "... The outcome was unexpected, I can see why lady Eva is so wary of that woman. However, in that case I'll just use a stronger undead." The lich said, despite the fact one of his most powerful undead was destroyed, he still kept his calm. Soon a magic formation appeared. And a rather pale looking man with slightly long white hair and black eyes devoid of any light emerged from the magic formation.

"I heard she is a very talented spear user... Let's see how her skills fair against a true master." The lich uttered. The white-haired man bowed his head to the lich respectively. "Kill her." The lich ordered. "Understood." The man replied in a low tone.

This man was someone famously known as the greatest spearman in old times, the spear master Owen. lich had gone through a great deal of effort in order to obtain this puppet. The white-haired man held a long two-handed silver spear.

And in an instant his figure completely disappeared from the surroundings. Meanwhile, Ethan was slowly approaching the location of the lich, sensing his presence the lich sneered coldly. "I should prepare a warm welcome for my guest." The lich muttered as a large magic formation appeared, thousands of undead could be seen making their way through the dusky forest.
