Synopsis

Rina is fearless, confident, and skilled in martial arts, proper hero material. Morgan is the exact opposite.

Half-Japanese and half-English, Morgan has always felt out of place, except beside Rina, his best and only friend. Moving to Tokyo, he discovers the in-between: a hidden realm where different worlds overlap. He encounters creatures from other worlds, talking Noh masks, an ominous Darkness. Forgotten memories begin to return.

A conflict is brewing, and its outcome hangs on a prophecy about the Child of Two Worlds. Everyone seems to think that means Morgan, but Rina knows that cannot be right. Yet the more he learns about wandering between worlds, the more unsettling the knowledge becomes: someone has deliberately altered his memories.

Rina and Morgan are pulled into a tangle of secrets, divided loyalties, and impossible choices. To survive, they must discover what the prophecy really means and who they really are. But in learning the truth, can their friendship survive?

Note from author

Thank you for stepping into the in-between with Rina and Morgan.

This story is inspired by real places, half-remembered streets of the old Tokyo, ancient shrines, small cafés, and the eerie moments when the world seems to shift slightly out of place. Have you ever noticed the light change before the thunderstorm, or the hue of a nostalgic sunset when you almost remember a different place? If so, perhaps you have already stepped in the overlap of different worlds.

Or perhaps you have felt like a Child of Two, or Many, Worlds yourself: not quite here, not quite there, but somewhere in-between.

And if you are simply here for Japanese sweets, nostalgic anime atmosphere, talking Noh masks, friendship, mystery, and magic swords, you are very welcome.

I hope you enjoy the journey.
