Chapter 670: Lavana vs Gravo

Beyond The Stars

Chapter 670: Lavana vs Gravo

Narrator: Lavana and the boulder demon, Gravo, are about to clash!

Lavana charges up her magic as she confidently smiles. “Let’s see if your boulders can withstand my lava!”

Gravo charges up his magic as he replies angrily in his very deep voice, “My boulders can easily withstand something like that! Try this!”

Gravo sticks his boulder hands into the ground to lift up a large chunk of the rock floor. His magic empowers the rock as he throws it at Lavana.

Lavana begins emitting lava from her hands and forms it in a round shape. She throws it directly at the incoming magic-powered boulder.

The two attacks collide and while the lava fully engulfs the boulder, it drops to the floor, ending the collision as a stalemate.

Lavana throws more balls of lava at Gravo but he suddenly sinks into the floor, leaving his excess boulders behind.

Lavana thinks to herself with a serious expression on her face. (“So he can separate from his boulders at will?”)

Lava begins looking around, trying to predict Gravo’s next move. Suddenly, a bunch of boulders break out from the ground right next to her, quickly forming and punching her before she has time to react. The punch knocks Lavana back against a wall while Gravo fully regains his previous appearance. He uses his boulder hands to lift a chunk of the rock floor and flings it at Lavana.

Gravo yells with determination. “Get crushed by my boulders!!”

The boulders slam into Lavana and break through the rock wall that she was knocked against.

Gravo speaks with a calm yet victorious tone. “I knew you had no chance. You were stupid to ever come here and now you’re dead.”

Just as Gravo is about to walk away, the boulders that partially broke through the wall are blasted out as a horizontal geyser of lava blasts them into Gravo with a force strong enough to break his boulder body apart. The lava also envelops him.

Lavana emerges from the new hole in the wall. She has taken some damage but she confidently smiles. “Did you really think I would go down like that? I am a powerful demon.”

As Lavana continues to walk, some boulders emerge from the ground right behind her, immediately wrapping the undefined boulder arms around her upper chest. The boulders finish taking on Gravo’s regular appearance.

Lavana opens her eyes wide and looks out to the pile of boulders covered in lava. She grits her teeth before responding. “How did you…!? All of your boulders are still there!”

Gravo chuckles. “Perhaps you don’t know how boulder demons work.” He then begins thrusting his rock knee into Lavana’s back repeatedly, damaging her each time and causing her to cough up some blood.

However, as the knee thrust attacks continue, Lavana begins to glow with lava lines going throughout her whole body. She shouts, “Lava Blast!”

Gravo frowns as he realizes what is happening. Lava blasts out in all directions from Lavana’s body. The lava covers a lot of ground in the immediate area as well as some of the walls. When the lava has finished blasting out, Lavana still stands there but the boulders that grabbed her are lying dormant on the ground covered in lava. She is taking a lot of deep breaths while sweating a bit. “Did that get him or did he separate himself from the boulders again?”

Suddenly, five large boulders launch out from a wall on the other side of the room. Lavana notices them and jumps out of the way to dodge them. As she is in the air from her jump, more boulders launch at her from a different wall and, this time, they hit her directly, knocking her back into a wall. She frustratingly reacts to her situation. “It’s annoying that I can’t even tell if I have damaged him at all!”

Before Lavana can do anything else, rock arms emerge from the wall and wrap around her abdomen, fully restraining her. She darts her eyes back to focus on the wall. “Did I hurt your head? This won’t work!” She begins glowing again.

However, Gravo’s voice can be heard from the distance. He speaks with amusement. “Is that what you think?”

Lavana opens her eyes wide. “Huh!?”

More boulders launch toward Lavana from a distance. She does not have time to get her Lava Blast attack off before the boulders pound into her, breaking through the wall. Once she is in the wall, the ceiling of the new hole in the wall begins to collapse on top of her. Stuck under a pile of stone rubble, Lavana quickly thinks to herself. (“I have to cancel my attack!”)

Coming from underneath Lavana, a rock arm pounds her in the back with enough force to blast her out of the rock wall and her body hits the grounds in the main room hard enough that she flops around until her momentum slows enough to stop. She slowly gets up while coughing up more blood. She vents her frustration aloud. “This bastard is tougher than he looks…!” The ground beneath her shakes and she jumps out of the way fast to avoid Gravo launching out from the ground to pound her again. She lands on her feet and wipes some blood away from her face.

Gravo also lands on his feet and faces her. “There is a reason why I am the guard of this place. It’s my home field advantage and I am the strongest boulder demon there is. Challenging me to a fight in this place is the same thing as having a death wish. Confessing your sins to Lord Ronzic is the only way you will leave here alive. But that is only if he will let you live.”

Lavana heavily focuses on Gravo’s boulder body rather than immediately responding to his words. Soon, she does finally respond but not to reply to his previous words. “You’re not a natural living creature, are you? And by that, I mean that you must not have a natural body structure.”

Gravo’s eyes narrow while he makes a slight growling noise. He soon responds in a calm yet serious tone. “So, you finally figured it out.”

Lavana continues speaking. “You say that you are in charge of protecting this place but where are the other boulder demons? They’re certainly not in Ronzic’s facility. You must be here for more reasons than just guarding it.”

Gravo makes another growling noise. “Your suspicions are impressively accurate…”

Lavana crosses her arms. “Go on. Elaborate.”

Gravo looks at Lavana with a serious expression before taking a deep breath and beginning his story. “We boulder demons… are the suppressed ones.”

Narrator: As Lavana struggles to find a way to truly damage Gravo, she finds there is something deeper about him than what he shows on the surface!
